Our client is a global multi-billion-dollar Consumer Packaged Goods company, based in Westchester County, New York.  They are seeking a Strategic Project/Portfolio Manager to work in their White Plains office.  Estimated length of assignment is 6 months.

The Strategic Project/Portfolio Manager will be responsible for supporting the CIO in the implementation of the IT strategy. The right candidate should have a strong track record of delivering results and proven project management experience leading projects, from concept to completion and ensuring impact is delivered and clearly communicated.  This role will support communications on updates, progress, achievements, risks, etc. through ‘drumbeat’ meetings and visualizations/storytelling (this include project management updates and communications for supporting change management). This role will manage and coordinate key activities for the digital transformation. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented leader capable of delivering significant technology initiatives and outstanding IT support in a rapid growth environment. You will build relationships and help foster a positive, constructive culture throughout the organization and within the IT team.

The scope of the work will include overall project management to deliver:

  • Assessment of existing organization: reviewing current processes within the different business groups
  • Create visuals to show our to-be harmonized application roadmap
  • Prepare and manage events, meetings, etc.
  • Ensure key materials are developed and meeting minutes are captured and communicated
  • Provide project leadership and analytical support on key initiatives
  • Planning and managing tasks for business units’ systems integration and consolidation
  • Support and track the implementation of overall IT strategy:
    • Demand backlog and prioritization
    • IT investment governance
    • Project execution standards
  • Other duties as assigned

Project Manager Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills:  Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels with technical and non-technical individuals
  • Strong ‘story telling’ skills; can translate strategy, milestones, timelines and achievements into powerful visualizations and presentations
  • Ability to work across functional and organizational boundaries, and has ability to influence others and earn trust across all team members
  • Strong time management, risk identification/mitigation skills
  • Budget development and tracking
  • Mentoring and coaching - help hold teams accountable for their responsibilities and deliverables
  • Critical thinking - ability to communicate key topics and manage risks as required
